Unlike traditional two-way radios that directly transmit voice through a radio simplex connection, satellite two-way radios (SPTT) link radios via Iridium low Earth orbit satellites using L Band, creating an extremely large communication range (100,000 to 2,250,000 square kilometers) and offering the advantage of communication encryption.
