How does N3D xCloudConnect work?

N3D xCloudConnect enables devices to send and receive

messages through the AWS-hosted service without having

to develop a connecting service to Iridium Gateway

infrastructure. Messaging data is transferred through closed

carrier networks and dedicated secure private connections

between N3D and AWS.

N3D xCloudConnect is set up using cross-account

authentication and a simple script that sets up infrastructure

needed to support the service. Customers receive their SBD

device data in a Simple Queue Service (SQS) queues in

JSON format. Customer queues reside in the customer’s

own AWS VPC environment.

Since launch, N3D xCloudConnect has supported SBD

functionality. We recently expanded to support Iridium

Messaging Transport, which is Iridium’s Messaging solution

for Iridium Certus®. The implementation of the N3D xCloudConnect interface follows a high-level process:

• N3D and Partner Set Up Cross-account Security Role using AWS Console (IAM User)

• N3D Provides CloudFormation Template to Partner (creates all the AWS Infrastructure in the Partner AWS EC2 instance)

• SBD Devices Set to Use Iridium CloudConnect IP asDestination (SPnet)

• For IMT, the SQS Queueset is Associated with a Topic and the Device is Subscribed to the Topic(s)

• Partner Extracts / Inserts MO / MT from SQS Queues in Their Own AWS account

N3D xCloudConnect supports Satellite IoT markets and is targeted for customers who utilize cloud environments for

application hosting. N3D xCloudConnect is of specific value to Operational and Information Technology professionals

in partner enterprise and business applications. N3D xCloudConnect and AWS provide additional opportunities to

optimize applications and deliver over the top services such as data science and analytics within a secure and resilient

environment.
